12 Ideas to Share the GospelThrough Christmas

Christmas is only 12 days away… isn’t it exciting?

Christmas is a day (and a season) that is all about Jesus. He miraculously came to Earth and was humbly born to a virgin in a manger. It’s amazing that the King of Kings not only became human for us, but was persecuted and died to save sinners!

News like that is meant to be shared. Bearing that in mind, here are 12 ideas of ways to share Jesus’ light through the holiday of Christmas.

1.Ask someone what they are doing over the holiday break.

First of all, it’s fun for someone to talk about what they’re doing over Christmas break. You could mention that you’re excited about celebrating Jesus’ birth and start a conversation about Jesus through that.

2.Invite someone to the Christmas Eve service at your church.

My church made it easy to invite people to Christmas Eve service--they gave us invitation cards we can use. Even if it isn’t that easy, inviting someone to Christmas Eve service is still worth it. You never know--someone may really want to learn more about Jesus, but just be waiting for an invitation to church.

3.Share the gospel through your Christmas gift.

If you give a Christmas gift to someone, you could include a short Christmas card in it and explain the reason for the holidays in that card.

4.Share the reason for the season on your social media (if you have it).

It’s nice to share a post about Christmas on your story! It’s even better sometimes to write out your own post or story about the reason for the holidays.

5.Use the extra time with family to reflect Jesus to them.

We spend so much extra time around our family around Christmas. Whatever the spiritual state of your family members, you can show love to them this season.

6.Wear Christian holiday-themed clothes.

A great way to share Jesus is through the clothes you wear. For example, I like to wear Jesus Loves You shirts. I also have a sweatshirt from a church retreat that says Evergreen and has a Christmas tree on it. When people compliment me on the sweatshirt or ask me about it, I explain the biblical meaning behind the words.

7.Ask someone if they celebrate Christmas.

Use this as a transition to talk about their religion and the meaning of Christmas.

8.Give.

Christmas is a season for giving, and giving a meaningful gift to someone can make your love for them stand out. This could open up gospel conversations later on.

9.Host a Christmas event.

An idea is a Christmas party or Christmas movie night. You could watch a movie that in some way shares the gospel or read the Christmas story at your event.

10.Share through your Christmas cards.

Sharing a verse on a Christmas card can make a difference!

11.Send a short message about the meaning of Christmas.

Explain what Christmas means and a few verses in a short text or a letter. :)

12.Just have the conversation.

This is easier said than done, but boldness works well in many situations!

I'm praying for you! What is your favorite thing about Christmas?

"When people compliment me on the sweatshirt or ask me about it, I explain the biblical meaning behind the words."

Is the word evergreen from the Bible? I did not know that. That's fascinating.

Ahh! Okay, that makes sense. And that sounds like an awesome retreat topic.
