The book Across All Borders by Anna Grace was recently released! Across All Borders is a book about a girl waiting to meet her adopted sister The book is written in poems--one page of poetry from the girl’s perspective, and the next page from her sister’s perspective. I’m so excited to be part of the release tour for this book, hosted by Jen’s Author Assistance!
Book blurb:

My review:
Across All Borders was a short read, but an impactful story. Sometimes simple sentences have a big effect. If you have any experience with adoption or want to adopt, the book would probably pull on your heartstrings even more than it pulled on mine.
It is full of poems about a girl’s loving anticipation of meeting her adopted sister in person when she comes to America to live with them, and what happens once her sister finally does come. It also covered the struggles the sisters went through once they started living together--they would get in fights like normal siblings, but they tried to remember what a miracle it was that they had each other as family.
The book had Christian values like caring for those who are less fortunate, being welcoming and loving, and so on. Even in fiction books, you can usually tell when the author has Christian values and, in my opinion, those values often make a book much nicer to read.
Though I enjoyed Across All Borders, it’s not the kind of book I would normally choose to read. However, it was a beautiful, heartwarming story! I was also able to interview the author about how her faith impacted her writing. Enjoy!
How did you come up with the idea for this story?
When I wrote the first poems of what is now Across All Borders, I was simply reflecting on the adoptions of my own siblings and how much of a blessing they have been in my life. So, I think it mainly comes down to my own memories and experiences, and the desire to share my passion for adoption.
How does your faith influence your writing?
Prayer, for one thing. I try to remember to cover my writing projects in prayer, even before I actually pick up the pen to start writing. Just recently I was really struggling with writing a really heavy scene, and it hit me that I hadn't prayed over it. That caused me to put down the notebook and ask God to reorient me and remind me of my motivation for writing.
What has God taught you throughout the writing process?
God has taught me a lot about Himself, especially in helping me understand what it looks like for Him to be the ultimate Author, both of the universe and of my life. One recent example He has given me is the image of how much I love and care about my fictional characters, and then viewing that in light of how much He cares for us.
How have your own experiences and your family influenced this story and its themes?
Three of my siblings are adopted, so I think that says a lot. The story told in Across All Borders is inspired by my memories of my sister's adoption, but there are elements of all three of my siblings' adoptions woven in there, as well as some fictional parts as well.
That was lovely, Anna Grace! I love how many of your own experiences inspired this book. Thanks for letting me interview you and congratulations on the release of Across All Borders!
The book looks really interesting. Adoption is something I would like to learn more about. I also like the writing advice, it really spoke to me.
This book looks so cool, and the cover is SO beautiful. I think I'm going to check it out. Very nice review and interview!
Thank you for your kind review and for interviewing Anna Grace!
